Our Garden Graze picks and reviews
Chowin' through Epcot, and discovering one of our all-time favorite park snacks
Happy Saturday, readers! I don’t normally post on the weekend but next Monday, June 2nd, is the final day of the 30th annual Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival (sheds tear) and I’ve hardly mentioned it on here since returning from our trip.1
I love this festival for the blooms and bites. Epcot is absolutely gorgeous during the springtime, and the food booths are loaded with so many fresh and delicious offerings. Neither my husband or I are vegetarian for dietary reasons, but our eating definitely leans more towards fruits, veggies, grains, and alternative sources of protein. Needless to say that after scanning the menus for this year’s festival, we wanted to try just about everything.
As with all the festivals, guests are encouraged to participate in a challenge where they stroll around the park to try a handful of dishes that revolve around a certain theme or group of ingredients and receive an edible prize upon completion.
The challenge at the Flower and Garden Festival is appropriately called Garden Graze, and it’s centered around dishes that are plant-based. Here are some basics to participate:
1. Pick up your Festival Passport
These pocket-sized booklets can be found at park entrances, some shops, food booths, and other locations throughout Epcot. The last page features the ten different Garden Graze menu items to choose from, and the opposite page is where you’ll collect your stamps.
2. Collect five stamps
Choose five dishes to try or, if you’re like me, double up on one or two if you really enjoy them! After ordering, the Cast Member (“CM”) at the register will stamp your Passport. There’s no rush, though. You can collect stamps throughout your trip or — if you’re a more frequent visitor — throughout the entirety of the festival!
3. Redeem for a special treat!
Once you’ve got five stamps (and a fully belly), head to Pineapple Promenade Outdoor Kitchen to redeem your prize. This year’s prizes are dairy-free coconut and pineapple DOLE Whip soft serve in a keepsake plastic cup, as well as a packet of wildflower seeds.
We love to snack and, like I mentioned above, are totally open-minded when it comes to plant-based meat, so of course we had to participate in the Garden Graze challenge and provide some thoughts on the dishes we munched on.
Since this is a food review, it only feels right to give these items a proper rating. So, here’s the official Magic, Noted scoring scale:
Five sparkles: Holy sweet-baby-Donald-Duck — this was fantastic. It was a solid portion, and it had a really great flavor and texture balance. We would come back for it again and again and if we saw you in the park, we’d likely mention it and tell you to add it to your must-try list. A foodie home run!
Four sparkles: We enjoyed this. The flavors were good, and it likely elicited a head nod or thumbs up from us. We may or may not try it again, but it was certainly worth the price and we would recommend it.
Three sparkles: It was…alright. Nothing too much to write home about, but it was still a decent snack to try. There might be a few things that we would critique about the flavors, textures, saltiness or sweetness, price, etc.
Two sparkles: Um…yea. This wasn’t great and we didn’t find too much value in it. One or two elements didn’t sit well with us, but it could have had a small but redeemable quality.
One sparkle: There were many things “off” about this dish. It wasn’t enjoyable, we wouldn’t recommend it, and we might even be a smidge bitter about spending the money on it.
1. Biscuit and Gravy
Location: BRUNCHCOT — World Discovery
Price: $6.75, and redeemable as a Disney Dining Plan (“DDP”) snack credit
Rating: Five sparkles
This was the first item we chose since it was closer to the front of the park. It features IMPOSSIBLE Sausage topped with a creamy, white gravy and pepper jelly and sandwiched between a biscuit.
We don’t have a ton of experience with plant-based meat, but we both found this to be incredibly tasty. The biscuit didn’t crumble under the weight of the sausage patty, and it held up really nicely with the gravy too. We could tell that it was freshly prepared because it was decently hot but to be honest, I would’ve eaten it lukewarm because it was that good. The flavors between all the different elements were well-balanced, and we also enjoyed the lil’ hint of spice that we picked up.
Overall, we loved it and would absolutely grab this again at a future festival.
2. Lemon Tart
Location: The Citrus Blossom — The Odyssey
Price: $5.00, and redeemable as a DDP snack credit
Rating: Four sparkles
I love citrus desserts, so I was very much looking forward to trying this sweet treat. The plant-based Lemon Tart features lemon curd, blood orange fluid gel, aquafaba meringues, and raspberry powder with a vanilla tart base.
We found this item to be quite delicious. The lemon curd was a bit more runny than what we would normally expect for a curd, but the bright and citrus-y flavor was definitely there. The fluidity of it did make it a lil’ messier to eat, though.
We thought the tart was a good texture and not too difficult to cut through with the provided plastic fork and/or knife. Its light sweetness leveled out the tartness from the citrus elements and really rounded out this dish. I would certainly try this one again but if you’re not much a citrus fan, you might want to skip it.
3. Lumpia
Location: The Citrus Blossom — The Odyssey
Price: $6.00, and redeemable as a DDP snack credit
Rating: Four sparkles
This is a returning menu item that folks seem to love year after year. A single serving includes three lumpia with plant-based pork, green papaya salad, and a yuzu sweet-and-sour sauce.
Since it’s fried, the lumpia can either be really great or…a bit meh. Our’s weren’t too crisp, which was a bummer. However, the “meat” had a good texture, and we enjoyed the balance between the savory, acidic, and sweet elements. Despite a lot going on flavor-wise, they all worked really well together and we would give this one another shot with hopes that they might be crispier next time. Fingers crossed.
4. Farmhouse Meatball x2
Location: Trowel & Trellis — Near Disney Traders
Price: $6.00, and redeemable as a DDP snack credit
Rating: Five sparkles
Yea, you read that right. We got this one twice because we enjoyed it so much. The Farmhouse Meatball features IMPOSSIBLE Beef alongside spinach, marinated vegetables, and a creamy herb aïoli within a lentil wrap.
The flavors and textures of this dish were well-balanced, and we loved that it was a lighter option that didn’t make us feel bloated or uncomfortable afterwards. We picked up on some Italian herbs within the meatball, which gave it a bit more depth. Combined with the bright veggies and flavorful aïoli, it was a slam dunk. If I could find a solid lentil wrap, I’d love to recreate this at home for an easy lunch!
5. Seasonal Fruit Parfait
Location: Refreshment Outpost — Outpost
Price: $7.00, and redeemable as a DDP snack credit
Rating: Five sparkles
No joke — this is probably one of the best snacks we’ve ever had at Walt Disney World. We live in South Central Texas, and mango and chili-flavored sweets are very common around here so we had this on our must-try list from the moment we reviewed the menus.
The line was a bit long at this booth but it was well-worth the wait. You get a scoop of chopped mango, strawberry, and pineapple on the bottom, which is then topped with mango-flavored DOLE Whip, another scoop of chopped fruit, a lil’ squeeze of sweet chili sauce, and a sprinkling of Tajín.
This was chef’s kiss. It was tropical and sweet, and we love the hint of heat from the chili. We both enjoy this flavor combination, and it didn’t disappoint! You also receive a really great portion, so a couple people could easily split it. That is, if you want to… (wink)
I’m doubtful that this would ever happen, but we’d love to see this become a permanent offering. It was so good, and I think about it almost-daily!

The prize: Coconut and pineapple DOLE Whip
Location: Pineapple Promenade — Near Port of Entry
Price: Free!
Rating: Four sparkles
Ah — what a sweet, sweet prize this was. It’s not much but who doesn’t love a nice, cold DOLE Whip on a scorching-hot May day?
This exclusive treat is coconut and pineapple DOLE Whip soft serve in a commemorative plastic cup and is available to those who are certified Garden Grazers (raises hand).
I overheard a CM working at the booth that it’s also dairy-free, and you can definitely tell with the coconut portion. It’s not as creamy as the one that’s served at Aloha Isle in the Magic Kingdom but it’s still delicious. Plus — if you’re sensitive to dairy, it likely won’t give you too much trouble.
If they could add anything to this item, I’d recommend some fresh fruit. I think that addition would really elevate it and give it some nice texture against the soft serve.
That’s a wrap! Did you grab any of the dishes included on the Garden Graze menu this year? If so, which one(s) was your favorite? If not, which dish would you try? Leave a comment below and let us know!
